Byron Norman Brown III's Obituary
Byron Norman Brown III, a resident of Collierville, Tennessee, passed away on August 20, 2022, at the age of 69. The oldest child of Byron Norman Brown, Jr. and Paula Newton Brown, Norman was born on October 27, 1952, at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Millington, Tennessee, while his father was serving aboard a ship in the Pacific. After residing in Key West, Florida and Memphis, Tennessee during his early years, Norman moved with his family to Germantown, Tennessee in 1961. It was there that he developed his love for rural life, the outdoors, and animals—interests he maintained throughout his life.
Norman graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1970 and continued his education at the University of Mississippi. He obtained a Bachelor of Accountancy degree in 1974 and a Master of Business Administration in 1975. Afterwards, Norman worked for several years as a Certified Public Accountant with Mike Isom & Associates in Memphis. He quickly learned that his true professional callings were construction and real estate development, businesses he first experienced as a child on the job sites of his father's construction business. Norman had a long career in residential and commercial development and construction, and he served as the President of the Home Builders Association of Memphis in 1986. In later years, he diversified into other business endeavors, including farming and construction and demolition waste disposal. Norman considered his employees, business associates, and customers to be his friends, and many of them became his very best friends.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Gina H. Brown, of Oxford, Mississippi; his son, Byron Norman Brown IV (Jennifer) of Memphis; and his grandchildren Anne Willis Brown and Byron Norman "Penn" Brown V of Memphis. Other survivors include his sister, Paula Chapman (Jim) of Germantown; his stepsons Clay Posey and Cole Posey of Oxford; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews. His family loved him and will miss him immensely.
At Norman's request, memorial services will be private and limited to family only. Consistent with Norman’s desire to help those in need and his interest in wildlife conservation, memorial contributions may be made to the Church Health Center, 1350 Concourse Ave., Suite 142, Memphis, TN, 38104; Ducks Unlimited, One Waterfowl Way, Memphis, TN 38120; or Pheasants Forever, 1783 Buerkle Circle, St. Paul, MN 55100.
