Byrd Hanley's Obituary
Byrd Wells Hanley, 86, passed away April 21, 2014 at Northern Louisiana Medical Center. Mr. Hanley was a 1945 graduate of Central High School and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1946. He later continued his education at Sewanee the University of the South, graduating in 1949. Mr. Hanley was the former president of Memphis Board of Trade and former president of Memphis Grain and Hay Association. Being an avid golfer, he was long time member of Windyke Country Club and Second Presbyterian Church, where he enjoyed attending the 8 a.m. Sunday worship service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Alice Hopkins Hanley and brother, Daniel McKinley Hanley, II and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeannine Sullivan Hanley; children, Stephen Hopkins Hanley (Karen), Jeannine Hanley Sadler (Mike), Karen Hanley Trenthem (Phil) and Jeffrey Wells Hanley; grandchildren, Neal Wells Hanley (Angie), Aaron Michael Hanley, Sarah Elizabeth Harris (Aaron), Theodore Michael Sadler, Julia Alice Brogdon (Trey), Madison Wells Hanley, Janie Lynn Trenthem and Emily Jeannine Trenthem and great grandchild, Annie Margaret Harris. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the service begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family requests memorials be sent to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital.
