Bruce Wayne Herndon, Jr.'s Obituary
Bruce Wayne Herndon, Jr., M.D., 82, of Memphis died Saturday, May 6, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Funeral Home. He was a native of Nashville, graduate of Vanderbilt University and University of Tennessee College of Medicine, and member of Phi Chi Medical Fraternity. He served in the US Army Reserves before joining USPHS Officer Corps, retiring with the rank of Captain. Dr. Herndon practiced 45 years in Memphis as a board-certified ophthalmologist. He was a generous and devoted husband and father who touched many lives. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Dr. Herndon was predeceased by his parents, Bruce Wayne Herndon, Sr. and Frances Haltom Herndon. He is survived by his beloved wife Dr. Patricia Miller Herndon, devoted children Susan (Ted) Davis and Bruce (Lisa) Herndon, and three grandchildren Louisa Davis, Annika Herndon, and Branson Herndon. Dr. Herndon suggested you take your loved ones out to dinner and enjoy time with them while you can. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
