Brooxie Williams Newcomb's Obituary
Brooxie Williams Newcomb, 87, of Memphis, born May 7, 1922 peacefully passed away on March 18, 2010 at Kirby Pines Retirement Community. She was a member of Mullins United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Newcomb; her daughter and son in law Gwen and Milton Jones of Hernando, MS; her son and daughter in law Allen and Jackie Newcomb of Alabaster, AL; a sister and brother in law Doris and Charles Sibley of Helena, AR; She also leaves five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many loved nieces and nephews, and a host of special friends. Preceeding her in death were her mother and father Myrtle and Nathan Williams and a sister Lea Calhoun. Brooxie was a life time dancer. She and Robert were members of the Tennessee Twirlers and several round dance groups. For the past ten years she was an active member of both the Kirby Pines and Germantown line dance groups. A private funeral service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home attended by her family. There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life for all of her friends and family in the Performing Arts Center at Kirby Pines Retirement Community at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 22. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent in memory of Brooxie Newcomb ICO/ Kirby Pines Retirement Community, 3535 Kirby Rd. Memphis TN 38115.
