Bridget D Harmon's Obituary
Bridget D. Harmon was born in Muncy, Pennsylvania on November 2nd, 1948 to Mrs. Eleanor Shirey Dirner and Mr. Francis Dirner. The youngest of 4 children, she excelled at both academics and athletics. Upon her high school graduation in 1966, she moved to Greeneville, Tennessee to attend Tusculum College as an education major. As she did her entire life, she never let an obstacle stand in her way, making the men’s tennis team while at Tusculum. In the fall of 1969, she met the man she would spend the next 50 years of her life with. She married the love of her life, Gary Keith Harmon, on May 30th, 1970.
After graduation, the couple settled in the Philadelphia area. Bridget worked as an educator for the next decade, before moving onto her second career as a mother and community organizer. She utilized her skills and what she learned as an educator and became the president of multiple PTA’s, community groups, and volunteer organizations during the 1980’s and 1990’s, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for various endeavors.
Bridget’s true passion was her family. She was a proud mother to 3 children, always putting her family first. After numerous moves, she finally settled in Memphis, Tennessee. After a long battle with Dementia, she passed away peacefully on October 7th, 2020.
