Brenda Lee Whitson's Obituary
Brenda Lee Whitson, aka Brenda, Bree, Daughter, Sis, Niece, Cuz, Aunt, Lolli, and best friend to so many was born on July 28,1966 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was 58 years, 7 months, and 24 days when she drew her final breath on this earth on March 22, 2025.
Brenda had a zest for life and was a burst of sunshine in her family. Her infectious laughter, wacky sense of humor, and fierce love for her friends and family made her the star joke and storyteller of many family get-togethers and gab sessions with friends. She was free-spirited, bodacious and fun-loving in nature, passionate about the people she cared for, a devoted fur mommy, and could charm any stranger and win them over as a new best friend within just a few minutes of conversation.
Brenda met Mickey, the love of her life and her perfect fit, and they have been happily married for 9.5 years, seamlessly enveloped in their love bubble together. Brenda’s happy place was on the front porch of their home in Rossville, listening to her favorite music, watching Mickey grill, smoke, or BBQ and their beloved BeBe chasing butterflies in the yard.
Brenda worked as a hairstylist for many years throughout the Memphis, Germantown, Collierville, Millington, and Oakland areas. Over the years Brenda has cut, colored, permed, curled, trimmed, or buzzed pretty much every single person in our expanded families across Tennessee, Mississippi, and Missouri. Brenda had a very diverse and devoted clientele that ranged from her weekly ladies who came in for their curl ups and sets, to her edgier gamers and rockers Mohawks, and every hair color and shade across the spectrum of the rainbow, but the one thing always in common with her customers is if they were sitting in her chair they were laughing at some joke or wise crack Brenda made. When Brenda was working in the Millington area, she was one of a very few stylists who could do a proper high and tight haircut.
Brenda leaves behind her loving husband Mickey, her mom and dad Lola and Gary Thompson, her daughter by marriage Courtney and her other love of her life, Jax, her precious and precocious grandson, her sisters, brother, loving aunts and uncles, numerous nephews and nieces, the closest of cousins, countless friends of all ages, and a legacy of good times and happy memories.
Brenda was our bright light and precious girl and will forever live within our hearts.
