Brenda Ledbetter's Obituary
Brenda Albea Arnold Ledbetter, of Cordova, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, one day after her 81st birthday.
Born Brenda Kay Albea on April 27, 1945, in Memphis, TN, she was the daughter of Thomas W. Albea and Josephine Adams Albea, both of Memphis. Brenda spent her life deeply rooted in the city she loved, carrying with her a lifelong affection for its people, traditions, and places.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert Albea “Al” Arnold of Memphis, TN; her son, Bryce Thomas Ledbetter of Cordova, TN; and her sister Elizabeth Albea Phipps of Dayton, OH.
She is survived by her twin sister, Linda Albea Pludra of Germantown, TN and her younger sister, Nancy Albea Henley of Memphis, TN. She also leaves behind her nieces Amy Avery of Orinda, CA, Marybelle Phipps Yeazel of Germantown, OH, and Theresa Phipps Burns of Dayton, OH; her beloved grandsons, Tommy and Noah of Memphis; as well as cherished family members Donna Adams Vickery and Gary Vickery of Lakeland, TN, Kathy Bacherig of Collierville, TN, and Dan Adams of Conway, AR. Brenda is also remembered with love by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Brenda devoted more than thirty years of her professional life to the airline industry, a career marked by dedication, excellence, and a strong work ethic. Brenda earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Memphis. Following her retirement from the airline industry, she continued her commitment to learning and service and worked for the University of Memphis, In her later years, Brenda found joy in serving as a substitute teacher for Memphis City Schools, where she remained active and engaged in her community.
A true Memphian at heart, Brenda supported local organizations such as the Boy Scouts and found great joy in the places that make the city special. She delighted in visits to the Peabody, afternoons at the Memphis Botanical Gardens, outings to the Memphis Zoo, and time spent exploring the Pink Palace and other treasured Memphis landmarks. She had a gift for hospitality and was a gracious hostess, opening her home to family and friends for holidays, celebrations, and gatherings that will be fondly remembered. Brenda was also a member of Germantown Baptist Church.
Above all, Brenda’s greatest joy was her family. Her sons, Al and Bryce, were the center of her world, and her love for her grandsons brought her deep happiness. She treasured time spent with her sisters, Linda and Nancy, and remained closely connected to her extended family and friends throughout her life.
Brenda will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, her deep love of family, and her enduring connection to the city she called home. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
