Brenda Ann Creech's Obituary
Brenda “Mimi” Creech, 80, passed away after a brief illness at Baptist Memorial Hospital on Sunday, December 18, 2022 in Memphis, Tennessee. Brenda was the oldest of five daughters born to Mattie Sue Graves and J.D. Lane in Mayfield, Kentucky on March 19, 1942. Her family moved to Memphis early in her life where she lived until her passing. She attended Whitehaven High School, married and gave birth to three daughters, Sherrye, Shawn, and Susan. In 1974, she began her life partnership and ensuing marriage with Lawrence Christopher Creech of Memphis who would be her devoted husband and life-partner for the rest of her days. Brenda and Chris met at Holiday Inn where they both worked. Chris was an avid amateur photographer back then and enticed Brenda to his darkroom “to see what would develop.” Over their nearly 50-year-relationship, they were fortunate to grow personally and professionally which enabled them to live a life full of travel, great food, friends, laughter, and art. Together they raised her granddaughter, Shoshana, though they never had children together. Brenda loved experiencing all that life had to offer and often said her only regret was not becoming a veterinarian as she loved animals so very much.
Brenda is preceded in death by her mother, Sue; her sister, Barbara; and her daughters Shawn and Susan. She is survived by her loving husband, Chris; her daughter, Sherrye; her sister, Patsy; her sister, Nita; her sister, Kaye; her granddaughter Shoshana (Jason); great-grandson, Kai; and dachshunds, George and Buddy.
The family will be celebrating Brenda’s life at a gathering on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery at 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to honor the memory of Brenda Creech to Guardian Angel Pet Rescue www.guardianangelpetrescue.com as she would have appreciated her dreams being acknowledged in this way.
