Brenda Kay Buckingham's Obituary
Brenda Kay Buckingham, 81, of Germantown, Tennessee, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on February 26, 2026.
Known for her gentle spirit, steady encouragement, and deep compassion, Mrs. Buckingham devoted her life to serving others. She spent many years as a dedicated teacher for the Shelby County Schools. Even after retiring, her passion for teaching continued, as she would volunteer as a reading tutor in local schools.
Kay was a proud member of The Thriving with Cancer Group, a cancer survivor group that became a source of strength, friendship, and shared resilience. Her faith was central to her life; she was a committed follower of Christ whose kindness, humility, and quiet determination reflected her beliefs in everything she did.
Her greatest joy, however, was her family. Kay was a devoted mother and an adoring grandmother. She never missed a game, and she celebrated every accomplishment of her grandchildren with genuine pride and love. Her enthusiasm for their activities created memories they will cherish for a lifetime.
She is survived by her sons, Grant Robbins and his wife Brooke, and Clayton Buckingham and his wife Lawren; her beloved grandchildren: Aiden, Jackson, Bryce, Brayden, Cannon, and Elizabeth; and her siblings, Dwight Reasons and his wife Ann, and Elaine Cole.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Reasons and Opha Lee Reasons, and by her husband of 20 years, Jere Buckingham.
Kay will be remembered for her perseverance, her unwavering faith, and the countless lives she touched through her teaching, volunteer work, and friendships.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until funeral services at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 2nd at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery. Interment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate your donation to the Arise2Read organization at https://arise2read.org
