Bonnie Rhodes' Obituary
Bonnie Maddox Rhodes passed away peacefully on March 3, 2015 at Memphis Jewish Home after a brief illness. Bonnie and her husband Stan will always be remembered by the family for their unwavering support. She was a strong and creative person who loved her home and her dogs. Bonnie was active in helping to establish the Germantown Animal Shelter in the 1980’s. Throughout her life she continued to support animal rescue efforts. She was an energetic business owner of a shop that revolved around southwest art. Stan and Bonnie Rhodes built their retirement home in Montana where they enjoyed the West and the outdoors. Bonnie graduated from Kingsbury High School in Memphis, Tennessee and attended Memphis State. She met Stan in Biloxi, Mississippi where they fell in love. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years Stan Rhodes, parents Marley and Marie Maddox, brothers Sterling, Gilbert, Jamie, Otha Neil and sister Peggy.Survivors include three children and their families; Lou Anne and Bill Tanneberger of Harrison, Arkansas; Russ and Karen Rhodes of Friendswood, Texas and their sons, Philip and Kevin; Howard and Gina Rhodes of Eads and their children, Daniel and Catherine. Other survivors are caregivers and friends, Annette and Tommy Moore of Memphis.The family will receive friends on March 9th at 10:00 am at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave. Funeral services at graveside will follow at 11 am. As an alternative to flowers a donation to Memphis Area Golden Retriever Rescue group in Bonnie’s name is requested.
