Bonnie Faye Holyfield's Obituary
On Sunday, July 7, 2024, Bonnie Faye Horne Holyfield entered into the eternal presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, her truest of all loves, after a prolonged and valiant battle against COVID-19. She was 68.
Bonnie was born on November 17, 1955 in Texarkana, Arkansas. She married Farris Monroe “Bobby” Holyfield, Jr. on September 30, 1970. She was preceded in death by her father, Ned Carroll Horne; her mother, Carolyn Faye Kidwell Horne; a brother, Dallas Eugene Horne; a sister, Barbara Kaye Allen; and a daughter, Carolyn Louise Holyfield.
She is survived by her husband of almost 54 years, Bobby, who was faithful to the end and visited her daily during her extended illness. She is also survived by three brothers, Kenneth Horne, Anthony Horne, and Jackson Horne; a sister, Erma Davis; a daughter, Debra Jean Sweat (the late Christopher Denham Sweat, Sr.); two sons, Farris Monroe Holyfield, III (Lori Renee Holyfield) and Daniel Paul Holyfield; six grandchildren, Rebecca Lauren Claire, Victoria Danielle Sweat, Christopher Denham Sweat, Jr., Emmanuella “Ella” Grace Holyfield, Hadassah Celeste Holyfield, and Ziva Jubilee Holyfield; two great-granddaughters, Lily Claire Bussey and Serenity Evangeline Benson; an unborn great-grandson expected by Victoria Sweat; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Bonnie loved the Lord, and her love for others flowed out from that love. She and her husband were generous with friends and family alike, with their time, their advice, and their material resources. She instilled in her loved ones the importance of faith, surrender, humility, and generosity. These values inherited from her live on in the character of those she leaves behind. Bonnie was playful and never lost her childlike wonder, and she took special joy in her grandbabies and great-grandbabies. She was the best wife, mother, aunt, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law that her family could have wanted. The family will miss her, but we do not grieve as those without hope. We know she is dancing with Jesus and that we will be reunited with her one day. Services for Bonnie will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 11:00am in the Fireside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation starting at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Forest Hill - South Cemetery.
