Bonita "Bonnie" Siler's Obituary
Bonnie Siler of Germantown, Tennessee, passed away on July 27, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Memphis. She was the widow of William Lee (Bill) Siler, her beloved husband since November 20, 1982, who passed away on June 16, 2026.
Bonnie was born at Reelfoot Lake near Samburg, Tennessee, to Jesse Willard (Billy) Burton and Lou Anna Marie Work Burton, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Wade Burton Forrest, a brother, Jess Willard Burton, Jr., and a nephew, Leo Conrad Forrest. She is survived by a nephew, Quinton Troy Forrest of Hornbeak, Tennessee, and several cousins.
She grew up in the Hornbeak, Tennessee community. She attended Hornbeak Elementary School, Hornbeak Junior High School, and Obion County Central High School, where she graduated in 1963.
Bonnie moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1967 and worked at Memphis Bank and Trust, Wurzburg Brothers, Baddour Wholesale, Agrico Chemical, Malone & Hyde Corporate, Malone and Hyde Drug Distributers, and Federal Express in database design and administration. She retired from FedEx IT Services in 2013.
She attended (former) State Technical Institute and the University of Memphis. She also attended Specialty IT classes at Christian Brothers University, designed for and sponsored by Federal Express.
Bonnie was a long-time active member of Shelby County Republican Women’s Club and the Tennessee Federated Republican Women. She was elected Treasurer and 2nd VP of Membership of both organizations. She also held non-elected positions in both organizations.
When growing up, Bonnie attended Samburg Church of Christ and Hornbeak Church of Christ. She was currently a member of Germantown Church of Christ and previously attended Park Avenue Church of Christ and Quince Road Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends may honor Bonnie’s memory with donations to Harding School of Theology, Freed-Hardeman University, or Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Bonnie at Germantown Church of Christ on Saturday, August 8th, at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
