Bobbye June Scott Clark's Obituary
Bobbye June Scott Clark, 99 and a half years old, of Memphis, finally made it to heaven on November 8, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. “Sista” – as her nieces and nephews called her because of the close relationship she had with her sister; was a native Tennessean, born in Nutbush, TN in 1924.
An early seamstress, Bobbye was always sewing for herself and her sister. After her marriage to Tom in 1950, she was a homemaker and wedding planner. Her family estimates she made over 500 wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride dresses and flower girl dresses in her lifetime. As well as sewing for family and extended family as a hobby.
She was very active in WMU while at Berclair Baptist and Broadmore Baptist churches. Planning and writing full programs with performances and lessons from the bible to share with her church community.
She loved the holidays with family – hosting gatherings of 25 or more for a big meal – cooking the very best Boiled Custard, Cornbread Dressing, fresh yeast rolls, pies and pound cakes. She constantly encouraged her children to fix the family recipes, and all have come to the consensus that the lessons have finally been learned, although it has taken some time.
She is predeceased by her husband, William Thomas Clark, Jr.; as well as her son, William Thomas Clark, III. She is survived by her daughter Nita Clark, who’s married to Vic Plank; and daughter Robin Giles who’s married to Mike Giles, and daughter-in-law, Gail Wood. Also, by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews from the Memphis area and scattered all over the US.
Memorial Service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Homel at 5668 Poplar Ave on Saturday November 18, 2023 at 2:00pm. The family will receive visitation from 1:00pm – 2:00pm same day.
