Bobby Marshall Webb's Obituary
Bobby Marshall Webb, 98, died October 25th, 2023 in Germantown, TN.
His death comes less than three weeks after that of his beloved wife of 77 years, Blanche.
Bobby was born July 24th, 1925 in Memphis as the eldest of Mildred and Abe Webb's two sons. He spent much of his childhood on a farm in Harrisburg, Arkansas, where his stepfather was a Chevrolet dealer. As a teen, Bobby moved back to Memphis to attend and emerge as a proud graduate of Central High School.
Upon graduation, Bobby contributed to the War effort through employment at Fisher Aircraft Company. It was there that he met his future wife. The pair may have built B-25s, but Bobby's subsequent years were again defined by automobiles.
At the time of his marriage in 1946, Bobby and his stepfather purchased an Army surplus truck and converted it into a transport for auto parts throughout northeast Arkansas.
After five years of selling parts from the back of his truck, Bobby joined Mills Morris Company; there, he became the leading salesman. He also began to purchase numerous parts stores throughout the Southeast as he traveled for a Mills Morris branch known as Parts Distributors Warehouse that was founded by Bobby's mentor, William A. Loewenberg.
Bobby rose in the ranks of PDW, eventually becoming executive and owner.
After selling PDW to Carquest in 1986, Bobby joined his son-in-law in automobile sales. Together, the two established four dealerships across West Tennessee.
Far above entrepreneurship, the role of husband was Bobby's richest and most lasting. He served as a caregiver to Blanche for more than a half-century.
Bobby was a longtime member of Chickasaw Country Club, where he found great friendships and regular card games. He also found a well-manicured stomping ground for his mediocre golf.
His consistent slice did not keep him from playing with his grandchildren- with them, he enjoyed countless rounds in Memphis, at his home in Florida and across the globe. He ensured they were well-traveled and well-educated.
Bobby instilled in his family a love of history. As a former Sunday School teacher at Union Avenue Baptist Church, he knew his Bible and loved nothing more than a discussion regarding the Old Testament. He was a longtime member of Second Presbyterian Church.
He is remembered by all as a man of great integrity. His life at work and at home exemplified his strong Christian faith.
Bobby is survived by his brother, David (Marie); his daughter, Judith Belisomo; his grandson, Tyson Belisomo (Lane); his granddaughter, Randi Hernandez; his great-grandchildren, Hannah, Anne Catherine and Henry Belisomo; as well as two nephews and a cohort of Webb relatives who shared in his interest in genealogy.
In addition to Blanche, he is predeceased by his son-in-law, Nick Belisomo, and grandson-in-law, Carlos Hernandez.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of the many charities close to Bobby's heart: World Vision, Living Water International, Shriners Hospitals for Children or Memphis Union Mission.
Private services were held at Memorial Park.
