Bobbie Thurston Miller's Obituary
Bobbie Thurston Miller (born Bobbie Jane Thurston), age 78, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026. She was born on June 28, 1947, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Jacqueline Vaughn Thurston and Charles Haynes Thurston, Sr.
Bobbie lived and breathed for her people. She wanted everyone she encountered to feel welcome and cared for, and she found her greatest joy in the happiness of her friends and family. She had a rare gift for making others feel at home, and her warmth and youthful spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her compassion extended far beyond her human circle—she loved and adopted animals of all shapes and sizes and was always determined to give them the best life possible.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Miller.
She is survived and deeply missed by her children, Marnie Schlottman (Bradley Schlottman) and Michael Elliott; her grandchildren, Caitlin Ray (Jonathan Ray), Connor Schlottman, William Schlottman, and Rose Elliott; her great-grandchildren, Carrigan Ray, Jameson Ray, and Darcy Ray; and her siblings, Renee Posey and Charles H. Thurston, Jr.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Parkside Event Center at Memorial Park, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County.
