Bob Winchester's Obituary
BOBBY JOE WINCHESTER “Bob”, age 77, departed this life and entered God’s Kingdom on Monday, April 19, 2010, surrounded by his family. Bob was the founder and owner of Southeast Marketing. Born in Henry County, Tennessee, he was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Eli and Katherine Younger Winchester and his brother, Fred Winchester. Bob was married for 57 years to his high school sweetheart, the true love of his life, Jane Thompson Winchester. He was a proud 1951 graduate of Whitehaven High School, and remained an active alumni throughout his life. In 1951, as a senior in high school, he won the Memphis Heavyweight Golden Gloves Championship. He was a huge supporter of both the Mississippi State University and LSU Schools of Dairy Sciences. He was past president of the Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee Dairy Associations and was also an honorary graduate of Louisiana State University School of Dairy Sciences. In 2003, he was selected as LSU Dairyman of the Year. He was a former Mason and a member of Highland Heights Presbyterian Church. Besides his wife, Jane, he leaves to cherish his memory sons, Robert Joseph (Nancy) Winchester of Ft. Worth Texas and Phillip Monroe Winchester (Melinda) of Germantown, TN, and daughter, Dawn Winchester Johnson (Jeff) of Corinth, MS. He was affectionately known as “Bob-Bob” to his seven grandchildren, Marissa Clark, Shelby Winchester, Brandon Winchester, Luke Johnson, Katherine Johnson, William Chad Lee and Rebecca Winchester. He is also mourned by his aunt, Jo Nell Dye; sister-in-law, Rose Winchester; three nephews, Jay Winchester, Allen Winchester and Hank Winchester; wonderful neighbor, Orrie Pierce, and caretaker, Anita Jones. He leaves many cousins, as well as multitudes of lifelong friends. His larger than life personality will be treasured forever by his family and friends. His family is grateful for the prayers and kindness shown by so many especially from Pastor Tim Foster and the wonderful nurses in CV-ICU at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 21 at Memorial Park. Services will be 3 p.m., Thursday, April 22 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel.
