Bob Doherty's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Doherty, 82, went to be with his Lord on July 7, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – East surrounded by his family. Bob was born March 1, 1936 in Memphis, TN. He graduated from Tech High School and worked for Food Center for five years and Hunter Fan for 38 years. He married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara (Joan) Shute Doherty in 1962 and they had one daughter, Renee Taylor. Bob was an avid ice skater and loved everything pertaining to skating, shows, competitions and hockey. He skated to the age of 72 when the rink at the Mall of Memphis closed. He was an artist and painted in oils when he was young. He loved to build outdoor Christmas displays and put one out every year. He loved the Lord and helping others as long as he was able. He was a member of Parkway Village Baptist Church and Covenant Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Kathleen Doherty. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Joan Doherty, daughter, Renee Taylor (Trey) and granddaughter, Kendall Taylor, niece, Terri Kyle, nephew, Ronnie Kyle, great niece, Kelly Henshaw (Dustin) and great-great niece Kylee Henshaw.
