Billy Trenthem's Obituary
Billy Jack Trenthem, 84, passed away December 23, 2010. He was born September 12, 1926 in Truman, AR to Willie Mae Bishop and Jack Burtis Trenthem. At age 18, Billy joined the Merchant Marine where he learned welding and later did welding on the Hernando Desoto Bridge. During World War II, he joined the army and served in a reconnaissance squadron Panama. He also served during the Korean War. During the Henry Loeb administration, Billy served in the Memphis Police Department. He had an entrepreneurial spirit, and even though he had a full time job at DuPont, Billy opened his own carpet store. He was a former member of Leawood Baptist Church and later a member of Raleigh Baptist Church. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and raised his children on athletics. Billy’s greatest joy in his later years was hearing his grandchildren playing. He is survived by his wife, H. Louise; daughters, Linda Parks (Marvin), Jackie Trenthem (Maggie), and Terry Trenthem; sons, David (Rita) and Dennis (Nancy); sisters, Becky, Hazel, Janie, and Jo Ann; brothers, Phillip, John, Richard, and Grady; grandchildren, Jamie, Natalie, Amber, and Billy; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Katelyn, Brooke, Brandon, and Christian. He was predeceased by his grandson, Marty. Visitation will be 5 – 8 p.m. Monday, December 27 and funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family request memorials be sent to the Memphis Humane Society.
