Billy Overton's Obituary
Billy Harold Overton, 86, of Memphis, TN passed away on March 13, 2014. Billy was the beloved husband of Geraldine “Dean” Overton for 67 years. They met in Bells, TN and moved to Memphis after their marriage. Billy worked as a tire maker at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 37 years before retiring and then retired again after working at Libertyland for 10 years. He was a loving and dedicated father and will be deeply missed by his children, Bobby and Sherry Overton of Morristown, TN, Jerry and Debra Cannon of Byhalia, MS, and Tim and Lynn Murray of Oakland, TN; grandchildren, Dawn Hearn (Peter), Barry Overton (Shannon), Casey Cannon Sigler (Caleb), Billy Murray and Maggie Murray; great grandchildren, Hayden, Jacob, Ethan, Hudson, and Emma Hearn, Harris Overton, and Gwendolyn Sigler; brother, Dewey Overton; and sisters, Martha Pirtle, Dorothy Gill, and Betty Doolin. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Ray Overton. Billy and Dean have always opened their home and their hearts to others. The McGowan family, the Crum family, and the Flowers family were his children by choice. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby and loved spending time in his garage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 14 and the funeral service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15 all at Living Hope Church, 815 N. McLean Blvd. Memphis, TN.
