Billy Johnson's Obituary
Billy Gene “Bill” Johnson, 78, of Olive Branch, MS, went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, William M. Johnson and Willie Mathis Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sue Lee Johnson; and son Barry Kevin Johnson and his partner, Tony Maness of Atlanta, Ga. His life long friends, Dale Graham, Charlie Robertson, and Bill Irby. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church for 35 years. He served in the Korean War as a Corporal in the 728th Military Police Division. Bill graduated from Memphis Tech High in 1951 and attended 2 years at Memphis State University before entering the military service. The family lived in Sikeston MO for 6 years and owned a bowling establishment and a Ford Car Dealership. In Memphis, Bill was a successful “million dollar” paper goods salesman. He also was part of the company who developed Dairy Queen of TN and IHOP in TN. He was also part owner of Three Little Pigs BBQ Restaurant for 20 years. Visitation will be at 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 23 at Broadway Baptist Church, 7400 Getwell Rd. Southaven, MS, with the funeral services immediately following at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Memorial Park Southwoods Cemetery, 5485 Hacks Cross Rd. Memphis, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of the American Cancer Society.
