Billy Huddleston's Obituary
On April 4, 1949 Hal and Boyette Huddleston gave birth to a bouncing baby boy named William Galloway Huddleston, right here in Memphis. That child grew up to become known as “Billy” Huddleston to his vast network of friends of all sorts, in every corner of this community. Billy went to high school at Kingsbury, and then on to college at Lambuth in Jackson, TN where he majored in Political Science. He was a Kappa Sig in college and later in life continued as an alumnus advisor. Billy also served in the military as a lab technician. Billy worked for McKesson Chemical as a salesman for several years, until an opportunity presented itself for him to become a salesperson for Southwestern Liquor Distributors (now West Tennessee Crown Distributors). And there began his love affair with wine, and with all those people in Memphis who loved wine… Billy taught classes in wine tasting and appreciation. He attended church at Central Church every Sunday. Billy brought fun and a spirit of joviality to every event. Those who knew him looked forward to spending time with him. Those who loved him enjoyed spending even more time with him. His love for his friends was infectious. Memphis lost a gem of personality when William Galloway Huddleston passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, October 9, 2015 at noon, with a service to follow at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Billy would like for contributions to be made to SVRS. A full service provider for people with disabilities. Since 1962, SRVS (“serves”) has been at the forefront of enhancing the lives of people with disabilities, bringing peace of mind to their families and providing unmatched stewardship for our benefactors.“Blackbird, singing in the dead of night, Take these sunken eyes and learn to see, All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to be free.” — Paul McCartney/John LennonFuneral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
