Beverly Shelton Rush's Obituary
Beverly Shelton Rush, 70, of Germantown, TN, passed away on July 19, 2023.
Beverly was born on February 10, 1953, in Chattanooga, TN to Hugh Shelton and Peggy Sharp Shelton.
She was a loving wife, mother, Bebe, Aunt B, and friend. Beverly was an elite competitive swimmer as a youngster in Chattanooga. She later came to Memphis to attend Memphis State University where she obtained a master’s degree in education. She prided herself in being a homemaker, but occasionally she did some substitute teaching at the schools her son Parker attended. Beverly was a wonderful help to her husband Tim at his golf shop at Memphis Country Club where she was always available to run tournament registration tables and par 3 contests or to spearhead the golf shop’s Christmas open house. As a sustaining member of the Lebonheur Club, she always found time to volunteer her time and help when needed. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Tim Rush; her son, Parker (Kristen) Rush; her granddaughters, Eleanor, Emmy, and Eliza (on the way); her sisters, Cecilia (Tony) Mitchell and Diane Voigt; her brother, Hugh (Lyn) Shelton; her mother-in-law Norma Rush; her sister-in-law Pam (Gary) Bailey; her brother-in-law Mike Rush; her nieces/nephews, John (Gena), Timmy (Sarah Jane), Eric (Becca), Shelton (Katie), Heather, Alyson (Drew), Sarah, Kyle and Tyler; and her great-nieces/great-nephews Annie, Piper, Kayley, Taylor, Palmer, Aidan, Hudson, Luke, and Russell.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Shelton and Peggy Sharp Shelton, and her sister Annelle Foster.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, August 12 at 10:00 am with a memorial mass to follow at 11:00 am at the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit, 2300 Hickory Crest Dr. Germantown, TN, 38119.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
