My Dad and Beverly's Father Jack Gatlin were close friends as young men and I and my sibs grew up with the Gatlin kids, mainly Harvey and Beverly. When I was six, in the 2nd grade, I caught the bus a few stops before her and always tried to save a seat hoping she would come back and sit with me. Many times she did and always so cheerful and treated me like I was a little brother (4 yrs. her jr.), made me feel like a king. In 1963 (believe it was) Beverly had taken a teaching job with Harding Academy in Memphis and I was working in Memphis through the week and many weekends she would ride back to Paragould with me on Friday, returning on Sunday evening. We become good buddies and I enjoyed her courtship leading up to her marriage to Jerry.. Have admired and loved her so dearly all my life and will miss her so much. RIP dear friend. Tom Treadway
