Beverly Ann May's Obituary
Beverly Ann May, 69 of Memphis passed away August 25, 2016. Beverly was born in Memphis on August 27, 1946 to Ira and Tommie Eavenson. She lived for a brief time in Bavaria, Germany during Dr. Ira Eavenson’s tour of duty with the U.S. Army Dental Corps. during the Korean Conflict. Beverly completed her education in the Memphis City School system graduating from White Station High School in 1964. She received a Bachelors degree in education from Memphis State University in 1968; during which she was a member of Delta Gama. She went on to receive an advanced degree in special education from the same institution. Beverly taught in the Memphis City School system as well as Briarcrest and Lausanne, primarily teaching 7th and 8th grade math and science. She was known to be an excellent and devoted teacher being very knowledgeable in her areas of mathematics and science instruction. In the later years of her career, she focused on tutoring students in math and science; she particularly enjoyed instructing children with special learning problems. Beverly was active in church and loved attending Balmoral Presbyterian Church of Memphis and in later years The First Assembly of God Church on Walnut Grove Rd. in Memphis. She has always enjoyed her many long lasting friends from both congregations. Beverly loved to sail and fly fish in her younger years. She was an avid swimmer, swimming 1 mile a day and was a member of the masters swim team. She was an excellent cook, a skilled embroiderer and was quite proficient with knitting, crochet and other forms of needlework. Beverly will be greatly missed by her daughters, Nancy Priego (Eugenio Lopez Priego) and Abigail Lee May ( Thomas Wright). A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, August 29 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:30 pm. “Celebrating Life Behind the Stone Wall”. .
