Bettye Weaver's Obituary
Bettye Lloyd Weaver, 86, of Memphis, TN, peacefully went to be with Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior on January 4, 2019. Visitation at Second Presbyterian Church will begin January 9th at 9:30 a.m., and her memorial service will follow at 10:30 am. The burial service will be held afterwards at Memorial Park Cemetery.She was born November 25, 1932, in Morton, MS, the daughter of George and Ossie Lloyd. She is survived by her devoted husband Monte Weaver, her three cherished daughters, Susan Thomas, Nancy Weaver, and Ann Wilson (Jim) and her grandchildren, Will Thomas (Lauren) and Maggie Goldammer (Matt), as well as her sister Nancy Parker, brothers Bob Lloyd and Jimmy Lloyd (Camille), and eleven nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Dorothy Lloyd Smith.She enjoyed many years in King’s Daughters and the Woman’s Exchange as well as cooking and cruising throughout the Caribbean with her husband. She went to a number of cooking schools and served as a sous chef for her instructors. Many of her recipes have been passed down throughout the family.Bettye was a devoted member of Second Presbyterian Church for 44 years, serving as a women’s ministry leader and in the Martha Mary Circle, caring for the elderly and home-bound. She also supported the nursery, organizing volunteers and providing tender care for dozens of babies and toddlers, now grown and raising their own families.She was a faithful woman, a devoted student of the Bible, and a caring presence for her family, especially her husband of 59 years. She was incredibly proud of her family, praying continually for them and all those she loved.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Second Presbyterian Church Foundation and the Martha Mary Circle.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”.
