Bettye Lee Drew's Obituary
Bettye Lee Hancock Drew, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Hancock passed away April 16th. She loved her years as a graduate from Central High School and Southwestern College (Rhodes) where she was voted Class Favorite one year and Best Dressed all four years. She was always an active and lifelong member of The Church of the Holy Communion. She was a member of Chickasaw Country Club for over 40 years where she was mixed doubles champion in 1971. She was also a longtime member of LeBonheur and Memphis Garden Club. Bettye Lee lived an active and fun filled life with scores of of treasured friends, enjoying her bridge clubs, Garden Club lunches, and numerous other activities, especially travel. She always had great times and memories of her probably around 100 trips abroad. She was married to Gayden Drew III for 56 wonderful years and had 3 sons Gayden IV, Lee, and Gregg, grandsons Gayden V and Logan, and numerous nieces and nephews. She would like to thank in the last years, the staff of Trezevant Manor and especially her close and beloved niece Sarah Clenney. Any memorials may be sent to Trezevant Manor, The Church of the Holy Communion, or Memphis University School. There is a memorial service scheduled for April 28th at 1:00 at St Edward Chapel, Trezevant Manor, 177 N Highland St, Memphis, Tn 38111.
