Betty Wright's Obituary
BETTY ANN VANDEVENTER WRIGHT was destined to be a Memphis girl from the day she was born, May 7, 1939.If she always seemed happy it is because Destiny was good to her throughout her life. She cherished the memories from the days of youth, growing up among friends when having fun was much simpler. Betty loved the songs that played on the juke box back in the day. She graduated with the Class of ’57 from Southside High School and high school friends became lifelong pals. Her son feels she had a brightness about her, a persona which easily attracted folks to her from all walks of life. This aura brought together an eclectic circle of friends, and like her classmates, they remained friends. However, her best friend is her son, Joseph Michael Cooper, Jr.You may not recognize the name Betty Vandeventer Wright but you would recognize her any time you walked into a midtown landmark, Mercury Valet Cleaners. Her son, Mike, became owner of the family business, but she stayed The Boss as the company’s Secretary-Treasurer for 45 years.Memorial Park has been entrusted in all matters for this important occasion during the week of Thanksgiving. The doors to the Fireside Chapel will open at 10:00 am, this Tuesday, on November 26 of 2019, for the visitation and the celebration of her Life will follow at 11:00.She will be buried at Memorial Park Cemetery between her husband, Edward A. Wright and her mother, Mary Statham. Again, Destiny smiles on this Memphis Girl. Mike is asking all to stay for a light lunch in the Parkside Event Center. It is bittersweet yet appropriate to note we gather in this week of Thanksgiving. Flowers are lovely, but donations help others. Please consider sending donations to the Mid-South Parkinson Disease Support Group to honor Betty V. Wright, or to any other charitable group you support.Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119, 901-767-8930. “A Fitting Farewell For Everyone”
