Betty Varner's Obituary
BETTY JOYCE VARNER, 77, of Arlington, TN, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2010 due to an automobile accident. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at St. Johns United Methodist Church on Peabody Avenue in Memphis, Friday, December 31. Burial will follow in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS. Mrs. Varner grew up in Batesville, MS and was valedictorian of her high school class, graduate from University of Memphis, and a retired Transportation Manager from Harts Manufacturing in Collierville and a former employee at Bluff City Transfer. She was a writer, poet and owner of “Say It With Poetry” and contributed many articles in local Memphis publications. She was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church and former member of Grace United Methodist Church in White-haven. She leaves two daughters, Natalie Allen, news anchor with CNN International, formerly with WREG in Memphis and her son, Nicholas Wright of Atlanta, GA and Lauren Allen Murrell, former Air Force Captain, professional horse trainer and show judge, her husband, Bill, Captain with American Airlines of Elk Grove, CA and their daughter, Katy Murrell and her son, Zachary Neben, both of New York City, and her beloved dog, Meg.
