Betty Lou Ross Rome's Obituary
Betty Lou Rome went home to her lord on November 26, 2024 at the age of 83.
Betty was born to Argil Lee Ross and Suda Adaline Ross on March 20, 1941 in Saltillo, TN. After graduating from Saltillo High School as valedictorian in 1959 she moved to Memphis, TN and began her long career working and eventually retiring from Memphis Light Gas & Water Division. She was an active member of the Memphis, JC’s and later of Republican Women of Purpose. She was also an avid supporter of Toys for Tots and the Memphis Marine Corp League. Betty also loved her University of Tennessee Volunteers and enjoyed many years of going to games to cheer for her VOLS. Betty, whose faith was unwavering, was an active member of Raleigh Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and later, she became a devoted member of Central Church Collierville.
Betty was a beloved mother, wife, aunt and friend. Always there if anyone needed anything. For a little lady, she had the broadest shoulders and the biggest heart. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband Alfred Rome; brother, Tommy Ross and Sister-in-law, Thelma Ross of Milan, TN and brother, Paul Ross, and sister-in-law Evelyn Ross of Milan, TN.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Tia Rome; nieces Linda (Jim) Szopinski, Patricia (Barry) Jones and Sandra (Jeff) Stinson; nephews John (Melissa) Ross and Bill (Lynn) Ross; cousin, Larry “Bo” Petty and many beloved great and great grand nieces and nephews.

Services for Betty will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 1:00pm in the Riverside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation an hour prior to the service starting at 12:00pm. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Reception to follow entombment.
