Betty Aven Pruett's Obituary
Betty Sue Aven Pruett died on Thursday, July 18th at Reynolds Hospice House, Collierville.
She was born in 1938 and is the daughter of John Howard and Annie Maude Aven. Betty grew up in Greenwood Mississippi where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Billy Pruett. They were married for 42 years and raised their family in Memphis.
Betty taught at Christ Methodist Day School for 32 years, sometimes teaching two generations of the same family.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Michael Pruett (Lisa), Aven Russell (Mike) and David Pruett along with 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, her sister Ann Walker and 3 nephews. She also leaves behind her longtime caregiver and companion Madeline Genette. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy, grandson Luke Pruett, and brother-in-law Billy Walker. Betty was faithful to her Lord, dedicated to her family and a loyal friend to many.
The family will receive friends at Christ Church, Wilson Chapel on Tuesday, July 23 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with services at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery 5668 Poplar Ave Memphis, TN.
