Betty McKinney's Obituary
Betty Cooper McKinney passed away at Methodist Hospice on April 2, 2014. Betty was born May 11, 1931 in Memphis, TN, to Johnnie Bell Hamrick Cooper and John Roland Cooper. She was the second of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joyce Hamrick Nance, brother Jack Roland Cooper, and as she referred to her husband, “The Love of My Life” Tommy E. McKinney.She is survived by her sons David A. Hall (Pam) and James W. Starks (Mary), daughter Julie Abernathy (Jim), grandchildren , Tavis Hall, Carolyn Flamenco (Luis), Rachel Starks, Rebecca Starks; Jeremy Chastain (Michelle), and Courtney Chastain, and 8 great grandchildren.Also surviving are sisters Doris Bell Weaver (Robert) of Red Banks, MS, and Bobbie Lynn Gallagher of Anniston, AL, and numerous nieces and nephews.Betty had a marvelous sense of humor, and was the life of the party! She was an excellent cook and during her life one of her various careers including cook on a river boat. Betty loved to gamble and certainly enjoyed going to Tunica!Betty will be sorely missed by family and friends. .
