Betty Z. Johnson's Obituary
In loving memory of Betty Johnson, a woman of timeless elegance and grace.
Betty Johnson was born Betty June Zschiegner on 20 June 1933 to Roy Lamar Zschiegner and Emma Minnie Zschiegner in Portage, Wisconsin. After graduating from Central Bible Institute, she moved to Memphis in the early 50’s and worked at First Assembly of God as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was also the church organist for over six decades and played with such grace and love for the Lord. While working at and attending First Assembly she met Darrell Johnson, and they married on August 27, 1960.
With her husband, Betty was instrumental in the founding of Delta Services, Inc. in 1968. As the CFO of Delta Services Inc., her professional acumen was matched only by her unwavering dedication. Her passion for making a difference was evident in every endeavor she undertook. She selflessly served on several non-profit boards that were mission focused and tied to the Assemblies of God. Her interests outside of church and business included family, music and travel. She was a loyal wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother to her one and only grandson Avery.
A true friend to many, Betty leaves behind a legacy of faith, family and friendship. May her spirit continue to inspire, and her memory be a source of comfort to all who loved her dearly.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years. She is survived by her son, Jeff Johnson, his wife Chantal Johnson, and her grandson, Avery Johnson. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews in Tennessee, Texas and Alaska.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday January 4, 2024, at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, Tennessee 38119.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Assemblies of God World Missions Fund.
