Taylor, Betty Jean McDaniel's Obituary
Betty Jean McDaniel Taylor, age 88, loving wife of Bobby Gene Taylor for 70 years, went to heaven on February 22, 2025.
She was a loving mother to her four children, Teresa (Charles) Perkins, Gregory (Randi) Taylor, Christie (Dan) Glass, Richard Taylor.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Carter McDaniel and Thelma McDaniel, siblings, Joseph McDaniel, Ray McDaniel, Doris Britcliffe, Carter McDaniel, Jr. and June Kirby.
Betty was born in Memphis, Tennessee on April 19, 1936. She moved with her family for a few years to Tuscumbia, Alabama. They lived on the same street as Helen Keller. The family moved back to Memphis where she attended Pine Hill Elementary School, next was Germantown High School where she learned to play the piano and the cello. She performed with a string trio at the Peabody Hotel. While at Germantown, she became a member of the cheerleading squad. In 1950, she met the love of her life, Bobby Taylor, whom she married in 1954.
She was a talented artist and enjoyed painting landscapes. During her life, she had many hobbies and interests. Among them were tennis, cake decorating and ceramics. The family moved to Osaka Japan where they experienced many new adventures. She took a class to learn, Ikebana flower arranging, which she excelled in and enjoyed very much. Betty also loved to cook.
She leaves behind her husband, Bobby Taylor, 2 sisters, 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Services to be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Ave on Saturday, March 1 at 2:00pm with a visitation from 1:00pm-2:00pm.
