Betty Farmer's Obituary
Betty Jane Bethune Farmer Dec. 12, 1929 – Nov. 25, 2014 Betty Jane Bethune Farmer, a lady of Grace, conviction, and devotion left this world to join her beloved husband Jeff H. Farmer, her son Gregory Harold Farmer, her parents Rev. Harold Hemphill Bethune & Anna Barrett Bethune and her brother Rev. John Harold Bethune. Betty, the daughter and sister of Southern Baptist ministers, was a devoted Christian, wife and mother. As a longtime Memphis Tiger fan, she attended both football and basketball games for over sixty years with her husband and family. After working as a Laboratory Technician at Kennedy Veterans Hospital, she worked tirelessly next to her husband in the family business, Jeff Farmer & Sons Construction, playing a vital role within the company. She loved gardening and sewing; however, her favorite role was as Wife, Mama and Mamaw to husband Jeff, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She provided regular after-school care for grandchildren and provided unconditional love to family who came through her door. Always providing a smile, a laugh and words of encouragement and direction, she will be missed by the many who loved her. She leaves behind her children: Jeff Farmer Jr. and wife Norma Upshur, Ken Farmer, Debbie Cotton and husband Greg. Grandchildren include: Kim Farmer Finch and husband Richard, Jeff Farmer III and wife Summer, Kristen Farmer, Ken Farmer Jr., Matt Farmer, Justin Keen and wife Ariel, Andy Keen, Claire Cotton Freeman and husband Andrew and Christopher Cotton. Great-grandchildren include Caroline Finch, Abigail Finch, Anna Katherine Farmer, Jeff Farmer IV, Morgan Farmer, Tanner Keen, Ainsley Grace Keen, Maybrie Claire Keen and Thomas Freeman Jr. Visitation: Friday, Nov. 28th, Memorial Park Funeral Home, 10:30 with service to follow at 11:30. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – 713 S Mendenhall Rd, Memphis, TN 38117Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
