Betty Marie Bilheimer Ball's Obituary
Betty Marie Bilheimer Ball, 91, left this world on July 17, 2015, to enter Eternity. She is no longer bound by the frailty of her body and is free from the shackles of this existence. Betty was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on June 25, 1924, the youngest child of Mildred Howell and Roy Lemuel Bilheimer. She attended Little Rock Junior College (UALR) and LSU, where she majored in Music and sang in operettas. In 1948, she met and married Horace Greeley Ball, who was a minister of music and with whom she raised five children. Betty was a nurturer at heart and spent her time raising her children and later taught in one of the first Mother’s Day Out programs at her home church, 2nd Baptist Church, in Memphis. She shared her gift of music with everyone as a soloist and singing in church choirs through the years. She was active in her church as a Sunday school teacher and member of the women’s circles. She was a docent in the Wonders Exhibits in Memphis and also president of the Princeton Avenue Garden Club. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who rejoice that she is at peace with her Savior.Betty is survived by her five children: Barbara Flanagan (Joe), Beverly Garrison (Jim), Dr. Robert Ball (Lisa) all of Memphis and David Ball (Brenda) and Brian Ball (Shannon) of Little Rock, fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Horace; her sister Mildred Bilheimer Branch; her brother Roy Lemuel Bilheimer, Jr.; and her parents.The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 19 and her funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 20 both at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
