Betty (Betsy) Strayer Wells' Obituary
Betty Strayer Wells (Betsy), 98, died February 9, 2024. She was born November 20, 1925, in Maumee, Ohio to Floyd Arthur Strayer and Jeanette Holloway Strayer. Descendants of first settler of Massachusetts, New York, and Ohio.
Betsy was an avid reader, loved gardening, needle work, traveling, playing bridge, and genealogy, saying it was like studying history with a personal twist. This led to belonging to many groups such as: The D.A.R. Daughters of the Court of Honor, Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, Colonial Dames, Magna Charta Dames, Daughter of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Associated Daughters of Early American Witches, and The Plantagenet Society. She worked as a volunteer for every one of the Wonders Shows.
She joins her deceased husband, LCDR Daniel Carl Wells and their three sons, Danny, David, and Dale in their new lives. She is survived by her daughter, Beth and son-in-law, Bill Pickron.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until her service begins at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN, with burial in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley, TN. In lieu of flowers memorials welcomed to Immanuel Church and Memphis Humane Society.
