Bettie R. Bower's Obituary
Bettie R. Bower, 84, passed away October 13, 2013. She was born in Iowa on June 19, 1929 to Clara and George Rushton and raised in Illinois. She was an avid golfer and a founding member of the Whitehaven Country Club. Bettie was a the first woman to hit a hole in one in 1967 at the country club, where she was affectionately known as “Skinner.” She was a faithful and very active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. Bettie was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James W. “Jim” Bower. She is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Bower and Carol Stevens (John) and five grandchildren, Jessie Bower, Tyler Austin, Charlie Parks, and Adam and Justin Stevens. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 18 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. A memorial services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, October 19 at Christ the King Lutheran Church.
