Bessie Denton's Obituary
BESSIE MAUDE ALLISON DENTON, was called home by her Blessed Savior, Christ the Lord on July 7, 2012. Bessie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jess and Bess Allison, also by six brothers and three sisters, and her husband, Carroll L. Denton. They were married 48 years. Carroll and Bessie had five children, Patricia Stocks, Carolyn Hooper (Charlie), Donnie Smith (Lonnie), Clete Denton Webster, her caregiver, and Sunny Denton (Mary Ann). Bessie had 15 grandchildren, 2 of which preceded her in death. Bessie also had many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Bessie was born in Hamburg, Arkansas and lived most of her life in Frayser and Counce, Tennessee. Bessie had many friends. She was a Teacher and Superintendent of the Beginner Department of Frayser Baptist Church, and led many, many souls to Christ, both children and adults. She has many stars in her crown to light the pathway to our Lord. Bessie’s deceased sister, Dee appeared to her many times before her death asking her to “come fly with me”. Mama said “I don’t know how to fly” and Dee said, “I’ll show you how, come on over.” This was told to her granddaughter. Bessie was 97 years old and leaves her mark on this earth through all her friends and family. We’ll see you soon and sing, “I’ll Fly Away” together.
