Bess Westbrook's Obituary
Memphis, TN – Bess A. (Parks) Westbrook (91) passed away peacefully on October 2, 2015 at home surrounded by family. She was born in Memphis, TN on January 2, 1924. She was a member of the first graduating class of Treadwell High School in 1942. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years (William C. (Bill) Westbrook. Bess and Bill were former dancers and headlined at the Peabody Hotel and the Silver Slipper in the late 40’s and early 50’s. They had a chain of dance studios in TN, AR and MO. They were the founders of the Steppin’Out Dancers here in Memphis which still exists today directed by their daughter. Bess is survived by her daughter, Connie Wilbanks (Doug) of Memphis, a son James Westbrook (Ellen) of Memphis, 2 granddaughters, Cassie Tate of Memphis, Blair Fowler of TX, 2 grandsons, Brandon Westrbook of Memphis and Brent Westbrook of Memphis and 5 great grandchildren. Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, October 5 with visitation at 12.00 noon and service to follow at 1:00pm. Donations to the American Heart Association. Private graveside service at Ellendale-Bartlett cemetery.
