Bertile Hoyle's Obituary
MARGARET BERTILE “Bertie” WILLIFORD HOYLE passed away on October 25, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital – Bartlett. Mrs. Hoyle was born in Batesville, MS on September 9, 1919 to Esther Pratt Williford and Charles E. Williford. She was one of six children all of whom preceded her in death. It was while working at Firestone during WWII that she met George Leslie Hoyle on a blind date; weeks before his deployment overseas. They corresponded during the course of the war, and on February 22, 1946 they married in Memphis, TN. The early years of their marriage was spent in his hometown of Ansonia, CT, where their children were born. Her Southern roots called her home to Memphis in 1954, where she lived until her death. Mrs. Hoyle became one of the first women realtors/brokers in Memphis at the age of 40. She received many awards during her career of 31 years. Her greatest loves were family, friends, traveling and cooking for anyone who passed through her front door. She had a quick wit, beautiful smile, and never met a stranger. Mrs. Hoyle had committed her life to Jesus Christ at an early age, but in recent years found great comfort in listening to Jack Graham each Sunday at noon, Mrs. Hoyle was preceded in death by her beloved husband Les Hoyle, on December 1, 1977. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kathy H. Hartelust (Rob) and her son Les W. Hoyle (Carol); grandchildren, Taylor May (Annette), Leslie Moore (Mike), Kaye Ford (Shannon), Lee Hoyle, Maribeth Hoyle, John Michael Hoyle, Lauren Hoyle, Rob Hartelust (Amanda) and Jan Michael Hartelust (Amy); great-grandchildren, Caleb, Savannah, Reed, Clair, Lily, Marissa, and Wyatt. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27 from 4-6 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. Private services will be held on Monday, October 28 at Memorial Park Mausoleum Rotunda. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials in memory of Bertie W.
