Bernard "Bernie" Paul Jacquez's Obituary
Bernard “Bernie” Paul Jacquez, age 77, of Memphis, TN, passed away on July 27, 2025.
Born 5/15/48 to Bernard Ignacio and Eva Anita Jacquez in Fairmont, WV. Bernie moved to Memphis at a young age where he later graduated from Oakhaven High School (Class of '66) and Memphis State University (Class of ‘71). While working at the Defense Depot during college he met Judy, the love of his life. After a 31-year career with Sears Industrial, he continued to work until only a few months before his passing. He was an outstanding Christian man, devoted husband, father and grandfather. He served on the Christ the King Lutheran School Board of Education and served as an elder and Sunday school teacher for many years at Christ the King Lutheran Church. He was a true role model of servant faith and leadership. A lifelong Memphian, he was an avid supporter of Memphis Tigers basketball and football, and a longtime St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Diane White, and brother Robert “Joey” Jacquez.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith Behnke Jacquez, brothers William Ernest (Jeanne) Jacquez and Larry (Patty) Jacquez, sisters Theresa Howard, Charlene (Raymond) Abrego, and Patty (Brad) Manske, along with son Matthew Jacquez, daughter Robyn (Kyle) Byrum and four grandchildren, Coleman Byrum, Jake Jacquez, Levi Jacquez, and Davis Byrum.
A visitation and memorial service will be held this Saturday afternoon, Aug 2 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5296 Park Ave. Memphis, TN at 2:00 pm. Visitation will start at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church and School, the ALS Association, or a charity of your choice.
