My husband Jim and I bought apartment buildings 8 yrs ago in Memphis and we were blessed to meet the Garetts family at Hollywood hardware and furniture . We came from Los Angeles and knew very little about the city . They became our main supplier of materials and tools and close friends . Leslie and Bart always went the extra mile for us . We never felt just like customers but like family . I met their father when they invited me for an Easter celebration at Leslie’s home . I was impressed . Now I knew why Leslie and Bart had the amazing qualities of hard work and big hearts . He was warm and welcoming . He respected and loved everyone . I’m saddened that a Memphis legend is gone with the wind . My love and sincere condolences to Leslie and Bart , love you deeply and forever . We will see him in heaven . Rayna

Mr. & Mrs. Garett left such a great legacy, faith, leadership, and family. I knew them during our mutual time at Broadmoor and then working with Leslie at Oak Hall. Mr. Garry’s leadership as a Memphis and Kappa Alpha alumnus also touched and influenced me in admirable and lasting ways. Many blessing to his surviving family and much gratitude for his impactful legacy.

The Holly Wood, furniture co. Was a true Blessing too the community. Mr. Garrett, Lesley,& Bart really did great things. They gave many a chance too have things others denied. I wanted a lawn service, but did not have one lawn mower. Threw the Holly Wood furniture Family. Ms Lesley & Bart allowed me my chance my first lawn mower. From then on ever thing I needed was granted. Thanks too the Family am doing great. You & Family was a Blessing too our community thank you all Rest in Heaven Mr Garrett. Much Love too Family.

I met Mr. GAREY several years ago, after starting to work for Hollywood furniture and hardware. Went to pay a bill for my brother, while there asked if they were hiring and filled an application and one week later I came into work. Met Mr.Gary soon after then. When he would come he would come to you speak, Good morning with hand outstretched reaching to give you a firm handshake. This not just sometime this was every day. One morning as he came into the store he saw me and gave me the honor of saluting me, I did like wise standing straight gave him a military salute in return. We walked towards one another and gave each other that "Firm Handshake, And smiled and Said Good morning! Even though at times his strength wasn't always there i could feel his grip! He was a Man's Man! I saw him give a young man some money for gas and the young man said he would pay him back the next week. Mr. Gary said he wasn't expecting him to return. I felt the young man wasn't returning! He had a kind heart. He told me if I ran for public office that he would vote for me! We both laughed. I still can see him entering the store a giving be that military salute!!! To the Gary family which is like my own you have my deepest sympathy and condolences. I love you all! I will remember Mr. GARY the rest of my days!!

I was Mr. Garey caregiver for 13 months. He was an amazing friend. I am truly going to miss him, but I’m better because of him. if I could have given him one gift, it would’ve been the ability for him to see himself through my eyes and see just how truly special he really was. He was one in a million. I saw a man that would have started a war and ended it about his family. That’s how much he cared for family. Because to him family was everything he was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and a friend he worn many hats, but he wore Memphis state hat, the best 🥰 so Garey family was he perfect, no but he was perfect for you. BE BLESSED ❤️Love U all
