Bennie Garrett Crossnoe's Obituary
Bennie Crossnoe, 80, passed through heaven’s gates on March 11, 2015. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Janet, and four devoted children, sons Casey of Houston, TX, Ken of Dallas, TX, Clay of Bentonville, AR and daughter Terri Crossnoe Austin of Memphis, TN. He was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren, Shelby, Savannah, Garrett and Sophie Crossnoe of Bentonville, AR and Tabitha Austin of Memphis, TN. He also leaves a loving sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Gerald Skelton of Bells, TN. Bennie grew up as a farm boy, and he worked hard throughout his life. He studied diligently and became Salutatorian of his high school graduation class. After high school, he served in the National Guard. In addition, he became an civil engineer with the Tennessee Department of Transportation for many years. He attended Memphis State University, now University of Memphis and majored in engineering. Bennie also taught at the former State Technical College, now Southwest Tennessee Community College. Subsequently, he became self-employed in civil engineering and construction projects. In his later years, he owned and operated R & R Striping Company. Both Bennie and Janet were faithful and involved members of Faith Baptist Church. Bennie was an avid Tiger fan and University of Memphis season ticket holder and attendee for over 45 years. Bennie loved to tutor his grandchildren in their mathematics classes. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, March 15, from 2-4 pm and a funeral service will be held on Monday, March 16, at 2:30 pm. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family asks that any memorial donations can be made to Faith Baptist Church Building Fund. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
