Benjamin Edwards' Obituary
Benjamin B. Edwards, humble servant of God, went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2014, at age 83. He was preceded in death by his first wife Sammye Irene Bullock, and leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth Alston Edwards, his six children, Jana Redding, Vicki McGahee, Sam Edwards, Carol Hogue, Craig Edwards, and Dan Edwards, as well as five step-children, Jimmy Alston III, Barbara Green, Phil Alston MD, Cindy Johnston, and Mary Hargrove, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ben served his country through two branches of service, The Navy and The Air Force, and also retired from Alcoa. His greatest service was to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ through nursery ministries, prayer, and benevolence. Nicknamed “Smiley Ed” for his contagious grin, his great since of humor remained until his earthly end. Family will receive friends Wednesday, September 17 from 5-7 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 18, at 10:00 a.m. All services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
