Benjamin Eugene Brookhart's Obituary
On May 17, 2023 at 7:05pm, the world dimmed upon the passing of Benjamin Eugene Brookhart at age 45. While heading home from work on Picture Rocks, not far from his home, Ben was struck head-on by another driver who crossed into his lane. He died instantly.
Ben has left behind a multitude of family and friends who are deeply grieving his passing. You see, wherever he went Ben brought joy, wrapped in a giant smile, and a genuine heart to connect with others. If you needed a friend, he would find a way to be there. Ben offered his entire heart in every relationship he had in such a vulnerable and deeply genuine manner that few people can claim to love others so well.
Ben was a man with a deep, abiding faith and his greatest wish was that others could realize the absolute love of God through the salvation that is offered in Jesus Christ. He endeavored to be the hands and feet of Jesus as he often generously poured out his resources to help others. He led two Bible studies locally, and often shared his joy in finding a deep connection and sense of community with those who attended.
After a dedicated service of 20 years as an Arizona State Corrections Officer, Ben spent countless hours serving his local community through his involvement with the Pima County Republican Party. He devoted a significant portion of his time providing classes and presentations on various topics including the U.S. Constitution and American Citizenship. Ben was a strong and determined precinct committeeman and an elected state committeeman. He possessed a deep love for his country.
Ben was born on April 7, 1978 in Davenport, Iowa to James E. Brookhart and Pamela J. Brookhart. After moving to Tucson, Arizona as a child, Ben graduated with honors from Marana High School and then graduated with an Associate’s Degree at Pima Community College. Afterward, Ben graduated from Arizona’s Correctional Officer Training Academy and honorably served as a Corrections Officer in Arizona for 20 years until his recent retirement.
Ben is survived by his father, James E. Brookhart (DeeDee Brookhart), his sister, Jessie Brookhart-Knost (John Knost), his brother Brent Brookhart, his nephew Grant Knost, his nieces Lexi Knost and Hope Knost, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends. Ben is predeceased by his mother, Pamela J. Brookhart (d. 2006) and is now enjoying a reunion with his greatly missed mother with Jesus in heaven.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
