Barton Figg's Obituary
Barton Eugene Figg died in his home peacefully on January 15, 2018, in Germantown, Tennessee. He was 70. Mr. Figg was born in 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth Figg. He graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, with a degree in History and served in the Army National Guard, obtaining the rank of First Lieutenant as a military police officer. He married Kevin Elizabeth Reilly in 1970. Before he retired, Mr. Figg worked as a regional zone manager for Deluxe Corporation, operating territories in Omaha, Houston, Kansas City and finally, Memphis. After he retired from Deluxe Corporation, he received his Tennessee real estate license and affiliated with Crye-Leike Realtors. Mr. Figg was an avid golfer and passionate sports fan, inspiring all those around him with his boundless enthusiasm and love for his favorite teams, most notably the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Vikings. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Mr. Figg was president of the Bubba Conlee Junior Golf Tournament. Most important, he was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. Mr. Figg is survived by his wife, Kevin Elizabeth; his daughter, Erinn; his sons, Paul and Barton Patric (Lauren); two granddaughters, Isobel and Reilly; and his beloved dog, Lucy. The family will receive friends and celebrate his life from 4:30-7:00 p.m., Monday, January 22 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project or the charity of your choice.
