Barbara Watts' Obituary
Barbara Ann Watts died September 19, 2020 in an automobile accident near Forrest City, Arkansas.
Barbara was born July 13, 1951 in Ripley, MS to parents Rufus “Ed” and Jessie Watts. The first grandchild on her father’s side, she was the apple of their eyes. She and her parents moved to Memphis when Barbara was very young making it their home. She graduated from Messick High School in 1969.
Barbara began her early career overseeing the operations of various convenience stores for Loeb’s 7-Eleven. She later changed her course and attended cosmetology school to become a hair stylist. It was during this time she met her partner of 35 years, Diana Farr. Barbara and Diana lived, worked and tragically died together.
Barbara always wanted to own her own business and that became her goal. Through hard work and determination, her goal came to fruition; together with Diana they opened La Nouvelle Salon Memphis.
If you ask anyone who knows Barbara they would describe her as a loving and sincere friend. She was always taking care of others - that’s who she was - a giver who loved with all her heart.
Barbara leaves behind her beloved mother, Jessie Watts of Memphis, sister Diane Watts of San Diego CA, niece Christina Watts of Atlanta GA, nieces in OK, “sister-in-law” Rosemary Navarro of San Diego and many, many friends who loved her dearly.
She was predeceased by her father Ed Watts and younger brother Eddie Watts.
Barbara will be missed - her smile, her kindness. Her love for others will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched. Barbara is now resting peacefully and rest assured she will always be watching over those she left behind.
