Barbara Ann Sever's Obituary
Barbara Ann (Mihlbauer) Sever (3/7/1937-9/6/2024) was born in Wellsburg, WV and spent her early adulthood in Cleveland, Ohio where, among other jobs, she worked as a weather girl and did some commercials on local television. After having kids, she moved with her family to Newport News, Virginia and then later Atlanta, Georgia, where she was employed as an insurance administrator in varying capacities. She retired in Memphis, Tennessee.
She was a wonderful cook, loved flowers and gardening, had impeccable taste in clothing and decorating, and was always, first and foremost, a fierce and loyal advocate and protector for her children. She was a devoted animal lover and spent uncounted happy mornings trekking around Shelby Farms dog park. There is little doubt that many happy, wagging tails greeted her at the Rainbow Bridge when she arrived this week.
Barbara will be missed every day by her family and those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Sarah Belle (Butcher) Mihlbauer and Arthur Leonard Mihlbauer.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou (Mihlbauer) Allen of Parkersburg, WV, and her children Janet Elizabeth Sever and Jason Scott Sever, and her dog Sandy, all of Memphis, TN.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date; the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (www.michaeljfox.org).
