Barbara Chandler Robinson's Obituary
Barbara Ann was born January 18, 1943, in Ontario, California, to Roy and Lillie Pearl Chandler. Barbara, was the eldest daughter of six children. One brother (Alan Ladd Chandler), preceded her in death, along with her parents, Roy and Lillie Chandler. Early in life, Barbara, her parents, and her siblings moved to Fresno, California. At the age of 15, her life was forever changed when she was baptized into Christ. Barbara loved God’s word with a passion. She met and fell deeply in love with John Henry Robinson. At the age of eighteen, the two married in 1962. Barbara moved to San Francisco where her husband was employed at Alcatraz Island. In 1964 John and Barbara moved to Denver Colorado, where they conceived a son, Michael Todd Robinson, and a daughter, Stacey Paige Robinson (Mohair). Barbara was an influential person to those around her. She loved to travel the world with her beloved mother, sister, and many cousins. She traveled to Spain, China, England, Belgium, Greece, Rome, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, both sides of Canada, and all over the fifty states. She believed in taking advantage of every opportunity to immerse herself with various cultures. Barbara worked as an educator for many years, until she decided to retire at age 62. Barbara’s absolute favorite hobby was shopping, and she did it well. She enjoyed word puzzles, reading, sewing, collecting fine antiques, and spending time with friends and family. Annually, she attended the fabulous art gala hosted by her cousin, Vincent. Naturally, she was the best dressed. Even as a child, Barbara was known to have elegance and style, she became a seamstress and would often make her own clothes. In 2006, she and her wonderful husband, John Henry, relocated to Olive Branch, Mississippi where they built a family home across the street from their grandchildren. In 2006, John had a major stroke. Barbara spent all of her time attending to the needs of her husband, without complaint. Barbara has always been a woman of God. She was hospitable and entertained strangers, took in the homeless, gave food to the hungry, prayed earnestly, and loved God with all of her heart, soul and mind. Barbara spent her last days spending time with family and attending the East Shelby Church of Christ congregation. On October 21st, 2016, our Lord suddenly called Barbara home.
