Barbara Houston's Obituary
Barbara Jane (Brown) Houston, 83, formerly of Southaven, MS, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2015 in St. Petersburg, FL, surrounded by her family. She was born in Meridian, MS, on December 19, 1931 to the late Cecil and Mary Brown. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jack Houston. She is survived by her son, John Houston (Katherine), two grandchildren, Jack Houston II and Libby Houston, all of St. Petersburg, FL, and her two brothers, Glenn Brown of Meridian, MS, and Cecil Brown of Jackson, MS. She also leaves 4 nephews and 2 nieces. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on June 2, 2015 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6860 Craft Road, Olive Branch, MS 38654, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park South Woods Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church in Olive Branch, MS, or to the John Jamieson “Jack” Houston Family Endowment at the University of Mississippi. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, TN.
